MOOSEHEAD HISTORICAL SOCIETY ACTIVITIES Tours: Each
summer season we offer guided tours of our Victorian mansion and the Lumberman’s
Museum conducted by highly knowledgeable docents attired in period costume.
Unlike many museums, our tours begin when visitors arrive so there is virtually
no requirement to wait for a scheduled start time. Additionally, revolving
exhibits change frequently while major theme exhibits in the mansion change
annually, making return visits very popular.
Tours are conducted from June through September each Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 1:00 and 4:00 PM. Tours are also offered on Saturdays via special arrangement. Unfortunately, we do not offer tours in the winter, but some of our exhibits and collections are open for browsing during winter office hours. Tour cost is $4.00 per adult and $2.00 per child under 13 years of age. Tours are free of charge to Moosehead Historical Society members.
Research and Reading:: - our collections of artifacts, papers, photographs etc. are available year-round for research and reading. Interested in a particular person, place, or genealogy? How was the area portrayed in photographs in the early 20th century? Visit our Carriage House year-round to learn and explore.
