Preserving the Past: The Mission and Endeavors of the Moosehead Historical Society
The Moosehead Historical Society, founded in 1962, is a charitable, educational, non-profit corporation which devotes its resources to the discovery, identification, collection, preservation and interpretation of materials which document the history of the Moosehead Lake region and its people. The mission of the Moosehead Historical Society is to further interest in the history of the Moosehead Lake region and to aid in its preservation. The Moosehead Historical Society seeks to collect and preserve objects pertaining to any part of the history of the Moosehead Lake region and its watershed, especially the settlements and towns and citizens, past and present. The Society’s mission is also to protect and preserve the Eveleth-Crafts-Sheridan Historical House and any other real estate the corporation may hold. The Society also seeks to collect, preserve and record items of historical significance and to acquire and hold by purchase, gift, devise, bequest, grant or otherwise, real and personal property necessary or advantageous for the realization of the foregoing purposes.
