Our Office: The Center for Moosehead History

We are thrilled to announce that our office has relocated to the heart of downtown Greenville, now housed in the historic Community House at 6 Lakeview Street—the former Moosehead Cultural Heritage Center. With this move, we are proud to introduce our new name: the Center for Moosehead History.

This space represents a fresh chapter for us, buzzing with energy and offering a welcoming environment for our patrons. With improved accessibility, the Center for Moosehead History will be open to the public year-round, making it easier than ever to visit. The second-floor auditorium will now host expanded programs, meetings, and exhibits, further enriching the experience for all who come through our doors.

Our new location also features enhanced office and research areas, allowing us to better support our staff and growing team of volunteers. The transformation has been an exciting journey: a former kitchen has been thoughtfully redesigned into comfortable staff offices, complete with new carpeting and fresh paint. Updated lighting in both the office and exhibit areas ensures every display is easy to appreciate.

While we focus on revitalizing this space, we’re also turning our attention to the Carriage House, our previous office location. Soon, this space will host an expanded Lumbermen’s Museum, showcasing the rich logging heritage of the Moosehead region. Tours of the Eveleth-Crafts-Sheridan Historical House will continue to be coordinated from the Carriage House as well.

Whether you’re a long-time supporter or a first-time visitor, we can’t wait to welcome you into the Center for Moosehead History. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please reach out or stop by—together, we’re preserving and celebrating the Moosehead region’s extraordinary history.
